Cubic zirconia and diamante history

Cubic zirconia was discovered as a natural mineral in 1937 however it wasn’t till 1969 that these crystals were utilized in a melting technique that made them suitable for commercial production. In 1976 it was first marketed as a diamond imitation.

The natural version of cubic zirconia was first found in 1937 by German scientists M. V. Stackelberg and K. Chudoba. They discovered minute grains that they thought were interesting but it wasn’t till much later when these grains were under Xray diffraction that they were potentially considered todays version of synthetic diamonds.

The Russians were the first to use cubic zirconia in their laser technology, due to a shortage of rubies to generate laser beams Russians began on working on an alternative. Their research resulted in the development of cubic zirconia, a gemstone that is not similar at all to Rubies but had all the optical benefits that the Russian laser tech needed at the time. However, it wasn’t long before they realise that they could use the cubic zirconia in jewellery as they look so similar to diamonds. As scientists this did take them a while to figure out but eventually in 1972 a technique was created so that commercial production of cubic zirconia became feasible.

Cubic zirconia is created in a laboratory made using a powder called zirconium oxide, each laboratory has their own way of making it but usually it is mixed with stabilisers such as magnesium and calcium and using intense heat of up to 5000 degree Fahrenheit the crystals form and stabilize.

When should you not wear magnetic bracelets?

Magnetic bracelets are safe for most people to wear except for those that are pregnant or those that have any medical implants or heart conditions. Also we advise for people to keep magnetic bracelets away from children. Magnetic bracelets otherwise are safe for most and can also be worn as a fashion accessory even if you don’t have any health ailments.

How many hours a day should you wear magnetic bracelets?

Magnetic bracelets should be as worn as long as possible, we do recommend all day and all night if possible. The longer the magnetic bracelets are worn the more likely you will reap the benefits of magnetic therapy. We do suggest that the magnetic bracelet is a comfortable fit not too tight or too loose, if you do remove it do place it back on as soon as it is possible so that you get the most out of your magnetic bracelet.

How long does a magnetic bracelet take to work?

Magnetic bracelets can take anywhere from two days to two weeks to work, this depends on a number of factors such as individual sensitivities as every person will have different sensitivities to magnetic therapy. Other factors such as how long you wear your bracelet for will also have an impact, as we have mentioned before the longer you wear your bracelet the more likely you will gain maximum impact from magnetic therapy.

Should you sleep with bracelets on?

We do recommend you sleep with magnetic bracelets on but any other kind of jewellery should be taken off before sleeping. The fit on your magnetic bracelet should be comfortable about a small pinky gap away from your skin at the most. Some people to wear their magnetic bracelets closer to their wrist but again this depends on personal preferences, as long as the bracelet is not too close or cutting off circulation or too far from the skin then you will reap benefits from the magnetic therapy.

Proof of magnetic therapy…

  1. A study in the BMJ in 2004 trialled the effectiveness of magnetic bracelets in reducing pain of osteoarthritis of the hip and knee. The test was carried out with a placebo group and three parallel groups to see if the magnetic bracelets are effective in pain control. 194 men and women aged 45 to 80 years took part across five general practices. Researchers concluded that pain from osteoarthritis did decrease.
  2. Researchers at the University of Virginia, in the US tested to see if magnetic therapy reduced the intensity of pain from fibromyalgia, a rheumatoid disorder. They concluded that the intensity of pain did reduce for the patients, enough to be "clinically meaningful".
  3. Researchers at Harvard University asked patients with osteoarthritis to take part in a research study to see if magnetic "sleeves" worn on their knees would help them with their ailment. The patients wore the sleeves for six hours a day for six weeks. The researchers found that the beneficial effects kicked in after four hours, with a sevenfold difference between those who had the magnetic sleeve and those who had a sham device.
